What are pasturelands and why does Joshua 21
repeat it numerous times? In this chapter, Joshua was to allot the
Levites land to dwell along with their pasturelands for livestock. According to
wikipedia: "Pasturelands in the narrow sense are enclosed tracts of
farmland, grazed by domesticated livestock, such as horses, cattle, sheep or
swine. The vegetation of tended pasture, forage, consists mainly of
grasses. Pasture is typically grazed throughout the summer."
In this modern day, we do not go around allotting groups of people land, however, God has allotted us different places where we can go and spread the gospel. Many of the different places include: your job, school, waiting for an appointment at the doctor, emergency room, dentist, barber, etc. Because the mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life (Prov 10:11), we need to go and spread the good news to all so they too can have life.
